Now I see why the OVC has gone down hill so far. Our, SEMO's, President chairs the OVC Board of Presidents. That explains a lot.

This is a big step for the conference. Some may be saying NKU...and NKU would be a solid addition in the future, but this immediately brought ETSU to my mind. Adding ETSU would be great....but we need to get to 12 members. The 20 game conference schedule is a disaster.
As for the one time matching grant....I think its a good idea, but its not a lot of money. I'm not sure that a one time drop in the bucket of $13,000 is going to make a big difference with each school's basketball program in terms of longterm success, but its an attempt at making basketball better and that's a step in the right direction.

This is great news. I think the OVC is going to want to add Belmont or Lipscomb. I would rather the league add NKU and maybe one of the two Nashville schools b/c we need another Kentucky school. If JSU is looking at leaving then maybe we add Belmont for next year and add NKU after JSU leaves. 12 teams would make for some nice divisions so maybe we add two teams.

I like those divisions. It would be sad to lose annual home games against longtime rivals Peay and Tech, but I could live with only seeing them every other year. Belmont and to a lesser extent, Lipscomb....would be solid additions for basketball. I would still rather see Western Illinois and East Tennessee than either of those two schools though. But those are two divisions that I could deffinately live with.

I could see the league adding Belmont and Lipscomb soon and maybe NKU if JSU leaves. I don't really want too many Tennessee teams. There are enough already.

I am the biggest OVC fan in the world but it remains to be seen who would come to the OVC as crappy as we are right now in Basketball.

I would think that ANY D-II team in trasition would gladly join the OVC... and while I realize that even the Atlantic Sun looks like a superior conference at the moment... I believe the OVC would be favored as a new home.

The annoucement is that they are hosting Louisville next year to open the new arena.
Kinda boring if you ask me. Not an announcement that calls for the president to make it at halftime of a game.

I am assuming you're being sarcastic. When is the last time an OVC school hosted a 2-time national champion and perennial top 25 program? This, if true, is amazing news!

It's true. Check that link to the enquirer again. Hopefully UL starts doing 3 for 1 deals with OVC schools like UT did with Chatt.
