that's hilarious.......the racers lost out to semo and the peay on those first two guys. and that's not a crack on either program. beed just likes seein' the racers lose out to anyone.
looks like they'll be forced to go back to hangin' outside of popo stations with loi's in hand.
why can't ya'll get any action on this board? beed hates the espn board. it's okay at home but it jacks up his work computer whenever he checks it.
beed unnastands why the racer posters don't come here. they have their own nazi board that BANNED beed for something he said on haven. they will ban you if you say one thing against their corrupt program.
but beed don't unnastand why you don't have more tech posters and other schools that don't have a dedicated board. most of the peay folks stay on their board too. 'cept for peay voice....he goes everywhere cuz he is a celebrity and everyone loves him.

'Beed, you can always sign up on RN under a new name. It's not that hard, and I'm sure even you, with the WKU wafting through your brain, could figure that one out. ;D It's sad the several OVC boards are decreases their posts. Heck, I bet the hookers in BG see more action than the boards. I bet they'll pick up once MBB season kicks in. So is life dead on the Haven that prompts you to come trolling over here??

Tech also got a commit today from a 6-7 inch forward out of Atlanta. He is also rated a 3 star recruit. I know the coaches felt like this kid would be a steal. His name is Tyler McDaniels out of Meadowcreek High School.

More impressive recruiting from Tech. Congrats! I'd love to see all the schools in the conference nail down two or three guys every year that are rated this highly.

The OVC is falling off. I am not sure if I ever posted this here, but look at some stats I put together ealier this year about the oVC. I actually emailed this to Steinbrecher. He responded and wanted to talk on the phone with me, presumably so I couldn't copy his email to media. I haven't been around the OVC long enough to talk intelligently other than these facts I compiled so I never corresponded with him further. But I thought some of you may be interested.

ttubasketball:
This is a great topic. I brought this up to our AD about trying to follow the model that the MVC did in raising their conference. He said that the OVC would love to but it all comes down to one thing, MONEY. Our member schools have to have the money games to fund their programs. In other words the OVC doesn't have Presidents and ADs that are capable of raising money from their alumnus the way most of the other conferences in the country do. The OVC member schools don't seem to want to make the same commitment to athletics that schools in most other conferences do. It all comes down to money.

Great information TTUBasketball. Feel free to come over to the Morehead board to post it. p218.ezboard.com/fovcsportsfrm12The schools in our conference will always play money games...and it makes things tough. Look at Morehead's schedule this year...they play @louisville, @oklahoma, @houston.....all three are money games. We also return games @marshall and @bowling Green and we'll have a Bracket Buster game on the road as well. Out home OOC schedule is Western Illinois and two non-division I teams. This is a brutal schedule for such a young team to overcome. I agree that we should play more games against the weaker teams from big conferences. The likes of Marshall and Southern Miss. What I think would make the biggest difference, outside of better funding, is a league policy that bans playing more than one non-division I team per year. Maybe even a policy of not scheduling any of those games period. Our schools should be playing non-conference games agaist similar schools and there's plenty of them to choose from in this region. Maybe try to work out a scheduling agreement with other onferences such as the Southern, Big South, Atlantic Sun and Horizon.

eaglephil: The presidents of the OVC schools will never vote for that type of a league policy because at this time most schools in the conference need that money to run their athletic depts. Without it they would have to completely drop some sports. Even with these money games in basketball and football SEMO still isn't able to fund all the scholarships available in all our sports. We even had to drop men's golf for lack of funding. It's all about the money. The AD's need to do a better job of fund raising. At least at SEMO he does.

If our AD would get off his rear end and get in a car and go up to STL and work the area where our alumni and where the money is, then maybe it would work. No one can convince me that Murray State, and no offense to people in Murray but come on, Murray, Ky, can raise the kind of money that they do to operate with, and Southeast can't and we have a huge alumi base in a major metro area, is absurd. If Murray can have a $1m basketball budget, there is no reason SEMO couldn't either, if they expanded their fundraising outside of Jackson, Marble Hill, Scott City, and Sikeston.

The state of KY is all about men's basketball. Any sports fan nationwide is going to know that. So it makes sense that the KY schools have large MBB budgets.
But, and I don't mean any offense by this, when you think of MO, you don't exactly think FB or MBB .... at least on a nationwide scale. The fabled rep isn't there.
I will say that each school decides how to divide up the $$ pie. Maybe SEMO divides theirs differently? I know there were some lean years for the MSU women sports as the $$ was going to .... MBB (of course).

I completely understand this, but why is this something that's going on fairly recently(since Steinbrecher)? Men's basketball hasn't suddenly lost money, to my knowledge at least. If OVC schools haven't begun playing money games and thus completely trashing our conference RPI, then why are we falling behind? According to my numbers, and if they are incorrect let me know, the OVC is continuously falling behind the other conferences. Is the OVC losing ground or ones we used to be "above" gaining on us? I guess that's what confuses me. Why are we falling even further behind?
