SEMO signs Tierra Johnson from Three Rivers Community Colleg
A native of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Johnson recently finished her junior college career at Three Rivers Community College under head coach Jack Childress and she was a teammate of current Redhawks player Missy Whitney in 2005-06. She averaged 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 3.2 steals per game in leading the Lady Raiders to a 21-11 record this past season while connecting on 55 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range.
Johnson was named All-Region 16 first team accolades after leading the region in scoring and earned NJCAA Division I Honorable Mention All-America honors during her sophomore season.
She claimed second team All-State recognition along with All-District and All-Conference honors in her senior year at Poplar Bluff High School, where she was also named the team's Most Outstanding Player. Johnson was a three-time Most Valuable Player on the school's track team.
"Tierra is a talented guard who can play multiple positions and she is a good shooter, Ishee said. "She is a good student-athlete that has the total package and she could make an immediate impact for us next season. We are extremely excited to have Tierra join the Southeast women's basketball family."
Johnson is the third signee for the Redhawks, joining incoming freshmen Tori Fite and Lauren Sharpe, who signed in November as part of the NCAA's Early Signing Period.
