Some of you may remember Andy Van Slyke, the former Pirate and Cardinal fan favorite. Semo signed his youngest of 3 sons to play both football and baseball. He's a QB in football, OF in baseball. Van Slyke has 2 older brothers that are both in the minor leagues. www.semissourian.com/story/1188101.htmlAlways neat to have the son of a major leaguer in the OVC.

We seem to be attracting them now. First Bob Gibson's son, now Van Slyke. Pretty cool!

Van Slyke signed to play FB, but wonder if he intends to be a two-sport athlete

Van Slyke does plan to play both, with approval form both coaches.
The headline of the article I linked ....
Van Slyke plans to play football, baseball

As a Reds fan, I never liked Andy Van Slyke in the early 90s... but it certainly wasn't anything personal. It will be interesting following his son. I got a thrill watching Cortland Finnegan run a Jacksonville fumble back for the Titans this season... maybe Van Slyke will provide more of the same.

Did SEMO try to go after Drew Benes, Andy Benes' kid? Benes was an Olympian and Cards pitcher. His kid signed with Arkansas State.
